The International Institute of Quality Accreditation & Rankings (IIQA) provides ABET accreditation advisory and consulting services across India. Based in Hyderabad, we support institutions with programme-wise preparation, outcome assessment, academic implementation, documentation and evaluation readiness.
We work with managements, Directors, Principals, Deans, Heads of Departments, accreditation coordinators and faculty to develop a clear plan for each proposed programme. Institutions can engage IIQA for complete preparation or focused work on eligibility, curriculum, assessment, self-study preparation or evaluation readiness.
Our services are led by Dr. T. Ravinder Reddy, CEO, International Institute of Quality Accreditation & Rankings (IIQA), drawing on his wider institutional quality and programme accreditation experience.
Request a readiness assessmentSpeak to an IIQA consultantWhat Is ABET Accreditation?
ABET is an independent accreditation organisation evaluating eligible programmes in applied and natural science, computing, engineering and engineering technology. ABET accredits individual programmes rather than an institution as a whole. Four commissions apply requirements specific to programme areas and degree levels.
Preparation brings together academic practices and evidence covering:
- Admission, advising, progression and graduation.
- Programme Educational Objectives.
- Student Outcomes.
- Curriculum content and delivery.
- Assessment and evaluation of learning.
- Continuous improvement.
- Faculty qualifications and responsibilities.
- Laboratories, facilities and learning resources.
- Institutional support.
- Discipline-specific requirements.
A strong application demonstrates consistent implementation supported by reliable records.
Which Programmes Can Seek ABET Accreditation?
| Commission | Programme area | Degree levels identified by ABET |
|---|---|---|
| Applied and Natural Science Accreditation Commission — ANSAC | Applied and natural science | Associate, bachelor’s and master’s |
| Computing Accreditation Commission — CAC | Computing | Associate, bachelor’s and master’s |
| Engineering Accreditation Commission — EAC | Engineering | Bachelor’s and master’s |
| Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission — ETAC | Engineering technology | Associate and bachelor’s |
Availability of a commission or degree level does not automatically establish eligibility. IIQA reviews:
- Degree title and level.
- Institutional recognition and degree-granting authority.
- Programme content and graduate preparation.
- Graduation history.
- Appropriate commission.
- Applicable General Criteria and Programme Criteria.
- Existing assessment and improvement processes.
Initial-review requirements include at least one graduate before the academic year of the on-site review.
ABET Commission-Specific Accreditation Support
Engineering Accreditation Commission — EAC

Applied and Natural Science Accreditation Commission — ANSAC
Review applicable objectives, scientific curriculum, student learning assessment, faculty, laboratories, institutional support and programme-specific evidence.
Each engagement follows the commission, degree level and review-cycle criteria. Criteria and policies may change between cycles.
Why Is ABET Accreditation Important?
Preparation strengthens the connection between expected student learning, assessment and improvement. It helps departments:
- Define clear objectives and outcomes.
- Review curriculum and progression.
- Select suitable assessment methods.
- Evaluate learning using meaningful evidence.
- Identify teaching and learning weaknesses.
- Document improvement decisions.
- Review corrective-action effectiveness.
- Maintain consistent academic records.
- Strengthen stakeholder participation.
ABET provides programme-specific external quality assurance. Communicate the exact programme, commission and status. Professional recognition, licensure and employment requirements vary by jurisdiction and should be checked separately.

How to Get ABET Accreditation: IIQA Step-by-Step Support
1. Programme Eligibility and Commission Review
Review title, level, recognition, graduate history, curriculum, scope, commission and intended-cycle requirements. Establish the correct preparation pathway.
2. Gap Analysis and Readiness Planning
Examine systems and evidence. Identify criteria needing attention, missing records, curriculum gaps, assessment gaps, training needs, responsible teams, evidence and milestones.
3. Educational Objectives, Student Outcomes and Assessment Implementation
Review educational objectives, stakeholder involvement, applicable outcomes, course contributions, assessment instruments, rubrics, sampling, evaluation responsibilities and improvement actions.
Engineering bachelor’s criteria distinguish graduates’ expected achievements after graduation from capabilities at graduation. Assessment findings inform continuous improvement. IIQA follows ABET requirements rather than transferring another framework’s terminology or calculations unchanged.
4. Official Readiness Review Preparation, Where Required
Help determine whether an official Readiness Review is required. Review instructions, preliminary self-study material, records, completeness and feedback. It applies to initial accreditation where the institution has no currently accredited programmes within the relevant commission. Confirm requirements and deadlines for the intended cycle.
5. Request for Evaluation and International Documentation
Assist with Request for Evaluation (RFE) preparation: programme details, graduate transcripts, instructions, acknowledgement documents, translations and approvals. Programmes outside the United States require additional acknowledgement arrangements through applicable authorities. The institution controls its official account and submissions.
6. Programme-Wise Self-Study Report Preparation
Use the applicable questionnaire and template. Review criterion-wise explanations, history, scope, curriculum, academic processes, learning assessment, faculty, facilities, support, evidence and inconsistent statements.
The Self-Study Report is the principal compliance document and covers relevant degree-completion routes, delivery methods and remote offerings. It is separate from the NAAC SSR and NBA SAR.
7. Evidence Organisation and Student Work Review
Organise syllabi, instruments, graded work, laboratory and project records, design or capstone evidence, outcome results, improvement records, faculty information, advising, graduation checks and stakeholder records. Evidence demonstrates actual programme practice.
8. Faculty Training, Mock Evaluation and Visit Preparation
Review self-study explanations, evidence, assessment, improvement, curriculum, programme criteria, facilities, interactions and visit responsibilities. Faculty explain their own work clearly and accurately. Internal mock reviews are separate from ABET’s official evaluation.
9. Review Findings and Due-Process Responses
Review findings, factual inaccuracies, criteria, evidence and completed corrective actions. Prepare clear responses following official instructions for corrections and the Draft Statement due-process stage.
10. Accreditation Actions, Follow-Up and Reaccreditation
Review final actions, required follow-up, interim reports or visits, ongoing assessment, programme changes and subsequent comprehensive reviews. Where an action is eligible for appeal, assist with permitted grounds and documentation. ABET determines all accreditation and appeal outcomes.
